A summer saturday....

Summer has begun here in the Morgan household and if we haven't called or written, it is because while we are on vacation.... our schedule goes into overdrive! We haven't had a lazy day since school got out and that is fine with me! My cousin and her two kids came out to visit this Saturday before we leave on our month long trip and we had a great time. They live in the DC area, so we had to make sure to give them the full redneck experience. We took them to the tractor pull/show, but for a very important reason.....
So they could ride in a MONSTER TRUCK! (you can see tiny Chloe and Gavin in back - my cousin's kids are in the cab)
Aiden and Dennis climbing in the truck
All four kids climbing in, are you surprised that Gavin is first?
The ride actually lasted a little while and they went all over the fairgrounds. They were pretty excited! Chloe told me that "they went almost as fast as a monster truck can go!" Aiden told me that they did doughnuts. Gavin just asked to go again!
Don't you love Chloe in her dainty pink dress at the Monster truck ride/tractor pull?

That same saturday Gavin and Chloe received their super hero capes! They were pretty excited! Gavin wore his around all afternoon but with actual BOYS to play with for once, he didn't really stand still enough for me to photograph him.

All in all, a great day. The 4 kids had a great time together and it was so nice to seem them.

Chloe's Dance recital

So, Chloe had her first year of ballet this year. She loved every minute of it and she ended up being pretty good! She has a much better sense of rhythm than I expected and beautiful form. Unfortunately, BECAUSE she is decent at it, I think she will be heading somewhere else for dance next year. The place she was at pretty much just focuses on their competitive teams and leaves the rest of the older girls out. But, she looked adorable and had a great time! I was a pretty proud momma.

The blog isn't letting me post the dance video and I will be heading out of town soon so I am going to post the facebook link? Not sure if this will work or not.

Adorableness in its purest form!
Happiness and joy!
A proud grandma!
mwah mwah! Kisses to my fans!

Chloe thought she was pretty special, as hers was the only bouquet with a ballerina barbie inside. :)

We are both very tired here, leaving after a VERY long night.

The Superheroes!

The Superhero Federation has seen my boys and awarded them with their official capes!
The initiation ceremony was last night, and the boys immediately accepted the honor and took the Superhero code very seriously. They both insisted on helping me finish mulching the front yard with aplomb. The mulch looks terrific. Unfortunately, with all the wood chips and dirt I left the camera inside, but I assure you that there was a fair amount of "flying" around the yard and Superhero posturing.

This morning the superheros were back in action saving their baby giraffes from hordes of snakes and centipedes.

They took some time out to scare away the pesky squirrels too!

The horde of centipedes made its way to Nick's bedroom... Thankfully the Superheroes were on the chase, and the nasty bugs met a swift, but honorable, end.

Strawberry Picking

We took the boys to Tougas to pick strawberries on Sunday. I had been out picking about 10 days earlier and literally picked six pounds in about ten minutes. The conditions were not so good yesterday...

Oh, dear. It is going to be a long haul.

Well, we paid $12 to get into the fields and were determined to get our money's worth. The first picking area was sooo bad, but we stopped by another part of the field on the way back and were able to come up with enough strawberries to make it worth the trip. It took an hour and half though.

Butterfly Releases

We have a lot to thank Aunt Sarah for! The butterflies were a success and enjoyed by all in the family.

They were a little reluctant to leave. I've seen them around the yard.

"Woohoo!"

Nick is Two!

"Don't touch my cake!"

One of Nick's gifts.

I was having fun playing with my camera the other day.

Both of the boys love mini-golf.

Evan is quite good at it.

When all else fails...

Getting a lesson from Dad.

May for the MA Morgans

Having fun in the hammock.

Fishing at the canal.

Yes, Evan, there is a reason I said we shouldn't go in the lake in May.

They didn't listen, and both ended up in their underwear for the picnic.

Chloe's big day

Today I took Chloe for her Kindergarten screening. They test her hearing and speech, gross and fine motor skills, and basic academic knowledge (reading, writing math) in order to best place these kids in their kindergarten classes. She was given her student id number which she will use for everything from now until 12th grade. She will type it in everytime she wants to buy something from the cafeteria and write it on numerous forms. She is officially registered for Kindergarten!

To celebrate, I took the whole day off and we spent a girls day together. First we went to school, which she comes to everyday. But today we got to go in the FRONT door, which she thought was pretty special.
Then we went out to lunch. We had SO much fun at lunch, just talking about everything.
Then we went shopping. Chloe is a natural born shopper. It isn't even the buying that she loves. She loves the whole experience of looking and trying stuff on. She loves just walking down the hall in the mall and window shopping. Know anyone in our extended family like that??
Then we went to the movies. She just loves going to the movies. She had to choose between this and getting her nails done. She decided she wanted the movie... but wants to go get her nails done when we visit Aunt Jeanette.... hear that Jeanette? Totally her idea, but I'm on board!

All in all it was a WONDERFUL day. I had always wanted a boy when I thought about having kids and since the moment Chloe came out she has made having a girl one of the best things that has ever happened to me. This was probably the first time I ever REALLY got to spend time with her doing things I like to do on my own free time. So cool.

Love ya my big girl!
