Halloween - VA

First, a family shot from last weekend (the weekend of the 23rd). Note the beautiful weather. One week from that day there would be 5 inches of snow on the ground. Boo.
Okay - Halloween. This year the kids were spiderman and a tarantula. Chloe really couldn't think of anything, but once I suggested a spider, she latched on to this tarantula idea of hers and RAN with it!

Here is Chloe's costume... her two extra sets of legs, her extra eyes, her backpack mounted web, and... of course, her black tutu... because when you think of tarantulas EVERYONE thinks of tutus, right??

Gavin wanted to be spiderman. Halloween really wasn't that big of a deal because he wears this costume at least once a week. Seriously.

Close up of Chloe's face. Only 7 eyes on her and she was unhappy about the missing eye but there just wasn't room on that tiny little face. The purple sparkly glasses? Added by Chloe because they look "spidery."

Pumpkins

Counting the loot

Really, this Halloween was the best yet. They both had a great time and really got into the projects and decorating and the whole shebang. Gavin was such a little kid this year, running from house to house. And then stopping to examine his loot. They were adorable.

Cake Pops!

I thought the cake pops were a bit of a disaster, but they turned out to be a big hit at the party!
You make a cake, add some frosting and form them into balls. We didn't do frosting but did a mix of peanut butter and nutella. Very good!

You then dip the stick into candy coating and put the balls on the stick and chill
Then melt up some candy melts and cover the balls in that. This part is NOT kid friendly. You have to work quick and the candy is hot.
I rolled some in sprinkles and placed them in flower foam covered in wrapping paper.

jet plane

This is what I am hoping for tomorrow on the plane - sleeping or very happy children. I told Kevin I should get a merit badge for flying across country with these two and he said "more like an idiot badge." That really cracks me up; I keep picturing a big ole badge that says "IDIOT" in bright red.

Aunt Stephanie's house

My sister is lucky enough to have a small lake in her backyard... literally. The kids had a great time going out in the kayak looking at the nest of baby birds and grabbing at lily pads and their flowers.

Painting project

We repainted the foyer and the dining room the last couple of days and the kids were dying to paint. We let them help here and there, but they were very unsatisfied. So we took them outside and let them paint with the left overs. Here are the results.

I love this pic of Chloe. I wish she was in a plain white shirt. :(

Don't you love the serious expressions on both of their faces?
