Fire Station

Our friends, Nikki and Jay, invited us to the fire station. Jay is a fireman. Evan had a wonderful time.
Check out the braces! I'm holding Brody, our friend's baby and Nicholas. They were born within a half-hour of each other. Brody was 6 weeks early and Nicholas was 9 days late.
Some fun pictures.

They're gone!

So, after literally months of protesting... I finally agreed with my husband that Gavin's hair was starting to look a little slovenly. But it was OH SO hard to let go of these beautiful baby curls.

Science Museum

Dear Evan,
I went and saw some things about dinosaurs this weekend too! I really liked it, but I think I am starting to be more interested in snakes. My mommy is really thrilled about that!
                                Love,
                               Cousin Chloe

Gavin thought this was hilarious. He is laughing here.
Chloe and grandma carol looking at the merecats from the tunnel
Gavin really liked the tortoise... not so sure the tortoise was thrilled about him. He kept trying to hide under furniture. I wanted to tell him... "Duh... you have a shell!"

Zoo outside the science center

We may have lived too close to West Virginia for too long...

We finished off the day by taking the kids to their first ever Chuck E. Cheese (or is it Chucky Cheese?) for some pizza and games. I couldn't get too many pictures because once they hit their stride, it was hard to keep up with them. Gavin kept stealing stranger's skeeball balls!

For Chloe

Dear Cousin Chloe,
I know you like dinosaurs as much as I do, so here are some pictures of the dinosaurs we saw at the Science Center. Hope you enjoy them.
Love,
Evan

Summertime... kayaking, hiking, and ice cream!

Chloe is ready to go!

Out with mommy now because she refused to get out.... "Now it's mommy's turn!"
Helping daddy carry the kayak!

Gavin's favorite part of hiking was picking clover flowers for his momma!

Gavin lovin' on his first ice cream cone.
Here he is trying to sneak some to the dog
"Uh oh Jessie - we were caught!"
Chloe Jane got her request for "pink ice cream"

Gavin on the phone

So, he doesn't quite have the phone thing down... it is still pretty darn cute.

Ahh... summer time

Chloe sees her first fireworks

There is no real visual here, this was just to record her reaction. She loved the fireworks!

Gloucester

It actually stopped raining for a day and we headed out to a beautiful beach in Gloucester. Nicholas slept the whole time, but here he is putting his feet in the Atlantic for the first time ("I'll take you to the sea..."). Well, he is actually putting them in a tidal pool because the water was like bath water.

Our other little fish practicing "swimming". Evan went charging right into the water. One of these days we will learn to put him in his bathing suit before he sees the ocean. David had to run down the beach to catch up to him. Because the tide goes out so far at this beach, leaving a lot of sand to heat up in the sun, the water is surprisingly warm as the tide is coming up. We will be spending a lot of time at this beach in the future, it is perfect for kids.
